Born in the Netherlands and having spent part of my childhood in Spain, I moved to Scotland in 1991 to start university. My journey then led me to Wales before I settled on the Sussex coast in 2005. The UK is now very much 'home'.
I live on the south coast in Sussex with my husband, Craig. We met in Brighton in 2005 moved to Worthing in 2023 where took on renovating our 'fixer-upper' to create a home we truly love.
Our friends and family are really important in our lives and in our free time we catch up with them over good food and wine. When opportunity allows, we like to travel and we have been lucky enough to visit some remarkable places both near and far.
My 'happy place' is being in the great outdoors and I can often be found walking our dog Themba on the beach or in the South Downs National Park, which is on our doorstep. Our dream is to one day own a campervan to explore the remote corners of the UK and Europe.
In terms of my career, I have led services in local government at senior level for over two decades. I hit a professional slump a few years back - I felt stuck and had a sense that there was something else out there for me. I felt this niggling dissatisfaction for a few years, but like many of us I put up barriers to change, and stayed within my comfort zone.
Working with a coach to prepare for a promotion opportunity he challenged me on what I truly wanted - and I finally acknowledged that the trajectory I was pursuing was not going to bring me joy. This was a powerful realisation which started my personal transformation resulting in an inner peace and new found confidence. I now show up more authentically, enhancing my leadership skills, and grounding my personal relationships.
It was also the point at which I embarked on my training to become a life coach and I have never looked back. I now work with a small number of coaching clients alongside my role in local government (for which I have a new found energy and passion!).
