As couples, families or business partners, situations will arise where you jointly need to navigate significant life decisions. Examples include:
Relocation opportunities
Significant (business) investment decisions
Decisions around caring for loved ones.
At these inflection points in life, the decisions will impact each person involved differently - their values, their day to day life and future hopes and aspirations. Situations like this can create conflicting emotions, making it challenging for parties to voice their own thoughts and needs and/ or to properly hear and understand the thoughts and needs of the other people involved in the decision.
As well as being a coach, I am a trained mediator having qualified with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR). I combine my coaching and mediation skills to support two or more people in situations like this. Using a clear structure combining 1-1 and joint meetings I create a constructive space to allow everyone involved to reflect on and share their own thoughts, needs, hopes and fears around the decision and to properly hear the other person/ people involved in the decision.
I tailor these services to the needs of the clients but this type of work will typically consist of:
One joint contracting meeting
One or more 1-1 meetings with the clients individually
A joint meeting to work towards common ground and purpose.
A review meeting at an agreed future point to review progress and make any adjustments as necessary
We can work through a joint coaching program of this nature within a short space of time depending on the urgency of the decision or situation.
